PANDA + ATJ PHOTO
For the last 19 years, the team of mom photographers at Allison Tyler Jones Photography has been capturing spontaneous portraits of Arizona children and their families. As mothers to children, both typical and non-typical, we are no strangers to the dynamics of kids and family. Our work celebrates the individual personality and the joy of family with a modern sensibility. Examples of our work can be seen at www.atjphoto.com. Committed to the art of the photographic print, we work with our clients and their interior designers to create iconic art pieces and family galleries for their homes.
HOW WE PARTNER WITH PANDA
Our team has donated their time and talents for many years to create fine art portraits of the patients of Steele Research Center. Our work has documented children in treatment for a variety of conditions, from autism to cancer, the portraits we’ve created have been used to support the fund-raising efforts for PANDA’s Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show.
Models of Hope: Children Helping Children is a book project conceived by our founder, Allison Tyler Jones, to raise even more money to fund research and to celebrate the PANDA and patient models who will be walking in this year’s fashion show.
All proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to PANDA. The printing of the book is underwritten by DeCesare Design Group, Inc.
WHAT TO WEAR
Due to the compressed time frame for this shoot, there will NOT be time for wardrobe changes. Please bring your child dressed and ready to be photographed.
CLOTHING
Our number one suggestion is that you dress your child in clothing that is really “them.” They do not need to be any more pressed, combed, formal, or dressed up than is natural for them. However, if they LOVE to dress up, then, by all means, bring on the jewels! Let your child have a say in what they want to wear–even if it seems weird to you.
WHAT WORKS IN PHOTOS
•Patterns – Even if they contrast (i.e.stars with polka dots, if it says, “your kid” go for it!)
•Solids, Knits or Textured clothing (i.e. denim, linen, lace, etc.)
•Fave Object (i.e. fave bear/blankie/lovie) OR Dress Up wear (i.e. cowboy boots/tutu/cape/tiara) – whatever the obsession du jour is, bring it with you.
HAIR/MAKEUP
Avoid a brand-new style you’ve never tried before–it might not look like “them.”
Avoid full-on makeup for little girls. A bit of blush and lip gloss is great–avoid eye makeup.
THE LAYER OF MEANING – PROPS
If your child wants to bring a favorite stuffy (or 10), a stack of books (for your reader), or wear their sports uniform–we would LOVE it! If it’s a sports uniform, we would love it to still have the grass stains on the knees. If it’s a princess dress–don’t buy a new one–the ratty, ripped-up Elsa nightgown is much more authentic than the perfectly-pressed costume. If they are obsessed with Lego–bring their latest creation.
