My sister, Caroline DeCesare, just opened her first retail store, next door to my studio in Historic Downtown Mesa. We even put a door in the wall between our spaces so we can keep tabs on each other. Design Lab is a retail store dedicated to all the things we love:
*One-of-a-Kind items for your home
*Cute pillows
*Cool (and slightly irreverent) stationery
*Great lamps
*Design Books (lots of books)
*Our favorite writing implements and cool notebooks and journals
and lots of Etc. (items that don’t fit into any of these categories).
Jaimee Rose from the Arizona Republic, has lots to say about it here
Caroline is the owner of DeCesare Design Group , a very busy interior design firm specializing in luxury residential and commercial projects. She is also the mother of two wild boys (7 and 6) and pregnant with her 3rd (a girl!). And so, of course, this means she is looking for something to do so why not a little retail store?

And running the laboratory on a daily basis is the famous JeNNifer Linton of former Memory Lane Photo and Paper Arts fame. Doesn’t she look so cute in her lab coat and glasses?!

And the 3 Hotties from DeCesare Design Group–Whittlee Hamblin, Kelsey Hunzeker and Nicole Melde. The Dream Team. These Jr. Designers will be weighing in with their “Lab Picks” on a regular basis, helping you with knowledgeable advice about what would look cute for your home and how to live a more fabulous life.

So cute Carrie, Congrats!!!! you have done it again! Can’t wait to come and see in person. Aunt Jane
I had lunch this week with amazing local wedding photographer Melissa Jill. She’s the go-to girl for weddings if you want it done right. So we ordered our lunch at Urban Picnic here in Downtown Mesa and I think her Tuna Salad was a bit more than she was expecting. Feed a small village anyone? During our lunch, we chatted about photography, business and life. She encouraged/inspired me to be more diligent in my blogging efforts and gave me some great information about how she makes times for her own blog (which is great, btw). Just thinking about working on my blog and the whole social media thing in general makes me feel like I’m trying to take a bite out of that towering tuna sandwich. Overwhelming, how can I find the time, who cares anyway? But…I am determined. So, here’s to the teeniest, tiniest bite of that REALLY big sandwich. A little old blog post, starring Melissa.
Note for Photographers: Melissa also just launched a new venture call Align Album Design for wedding photographers. I love this idea–there are very few good options for wedding album design out there and knowing Melissa, the customer service is fantastic. This is a girl that dots her i’s and crosses her t’s. Thanks for lunch Melissa, next time it’s on me!

These two ladies are so fun, funny and talented. They are Barbara and Mary from Me and My Sister Designs and it’s always a party when we have a shoot for them. This time they are debuting their Good Morning line of fabrics that they design for Moda Fabrics (those of you quilter out there know who I’m talking about!). Anyway, I can’t show you the newest photos but I can show you my fave from our last shoot—the new stuff will be appearing in the Better Homes and Gardens Quilting Mag very soon!
